Blotz Poems

Post your tongue twisting poems here!

Moo Moo Mr. Mummer

This is a magical mummer.

It lives in mountains, markets, mufflers, and mummies.

A mummer eats muffins, milktoast, M&Ms, and mini-wheats.

It likes making money, milking, modeling, and mooching.

The mummer meowed at me.

That’s right. I even used the color “mauve” for my font.

Dream Poems

Take the words you wrote on the Dream Poems handout and turn them into a poem. You need only write one poem about one dream. Remember to give your poem a title.

Flying
In my dream I flew over Little Rock
Careful to avoid the Metropolitan Bank Tower

Flying
In my dream I saw the flock of birds gathering over the corner of Broadway and Markham
Their loud cries scared me as the black cloud of feathers rose higher and higher
Just as the flock was about to overwhelm me
I awoke

K looks like….

Posted on November 25th, 2008 in Poetry by mskunce

Post your “letter” poem here. Use the first letter of either your first name or your last name (if you really want, you may use the first letter of your middle name). You do not have to write the part about which way it is flipped. I put those lines in to remind you how to do the poem.

“K”

K looks like a chair, a cat, a pointing thing hitting a rock

K is an hourglass, a dragon, a puppy, or a guy with a long nose

Backwards, K is a curtain, a guy facing a wall, someone saluting Hitler, or the arrow after Next

K on its side looks like a fountain, a dinosaur

K is a hopping cricket, a valley, an alligator

Flip it over, and K looks like someone upside down, ribbons, or a teeter totter

Ki is someone crossing the monkey bars, or even the monkey itself

That’s what K is

Ode to Common Things

Posted on November 24th, 2008 in Poetry by mskunce

Hello students! Post your ode here under “Comments.” Remember, you want to see everyone else’s poem, so you should share yours as well!

Here is one of mine:

Ode to My Pocket Mirror

To my pocket Mirror

You are pink and squishy

You let me see

Myself in you

Sometimes, you cut me

With your sharp

Broken edges

But still, I love you

This simple gift

On graduation day
